CERAMICS - STONEWARE

I started working with ceramics in undergraduate school and have always considered it one of my primary mediums. There is no other material that has the flexible wide ranging abilities that clay possesses and humans have used as far back as our recorded history; for vessels, sacred objects, housing, aqueducts and hundreds of other uses. My investigation with clay has taken many turns, from a functional studio potter to painting my finished sculptures with acrylic paint and being dubbed “the room temperature glazer.” At one point in my career my clay sculptures were so large that I started casting them and producing the finished product in fiberglass. All of the sculptural furniture was built in clay first then cast. So were all of the large erotica pieces!

Most of the time now, I fabricate sculptural hand built pieces… only using the potters’ wheel to produce shapes that I cut up and re-attach to sculptural forms. I also produce slab work for funky plaques and platters, both functional and not!
